FIC: Arabesque on Ice (Albus Severus/Scorpius, NC-17)

So, this is the second fic I wrote for[livejournal.com profile] hp_nextgen_fest. You can read the other one here, if you happened to miss it. It's Al/Scorpius clubfic. \0/

Long story short, not long after I fell for the joy that is Johnny Weir, [livejournal.com profile] noeon mentioned she had a pinch hit in which the recipient had requested a possible non-magic sports AU, you know, like maybe figure skating, at which point I went OMG, GIMME NOW.

And thus Johnny!Scorpius was born. LOL.

Title: Arabesque on Ice
Pairing(s): Albus Severus/Scorpius
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: non-magical Olympics AU
Summary: He's still wearing that ridiculous puffy jacket they've forced on us, the one with the Union Flag emblazoned on one shoulder, Great Britain stitched in four-inch high white Helvetica on the back. No one looks good in that awful red. No one but Albus-sodding-Severus-bloody-fucking-Potter, that is.
Word Count: ~7100

Author’s/Artist's notes: Much love to [livejournal.com profile] noeon for the beta, and to a certain utterly fabulous Muggle figure skater who always seemed to provide inspiration right at the necessary moments. Written for [livejournal.com profile] phys_nut for the 2010 [livejournal.com profile] hp_nextgen_fest.

FIC: Tonight We May Lose The Battle (Albus Severus/Scorpius, NC-17)

So, reveals are up for [livejournal.com profile] hp_nextgen_fest. I wrote two fics for the fest; this is one and I'll post the other later tonight when I come home from concerting. \0/ This is the first time I've ever written next gen as a primary pairing, and I have to say, I rather enjoyed it. :D And I need to say a HUGE thank you to [livejournal.com profile] chantefable for my AWESOME Al/Viktor gift fic Discombobulation, which if you haven't read yet YOU SHOULD.

FIC: Black Coffee On A Lonely Night (HP, Harry/Draco, NC-17)

Reveals have gone up for the [info - livejournal.com] ownficfest, so I can now take responsibility for inflicting a non-magical Parliament/cricket/coffeshop fic on fandom. \0/

A huge, huge, huge thank you to those of you on my flist who pointed me in the right direction for cricket info. I ran up against the deadline in writing this fic, so I actually snipped the plot I'd developed in half at an appropriate point, which means for the couple of you who've poked me, yes, there will be a sequel at some not-so-distant point down the road and (in response to [info - livejournal.com] cursive's insistence that she wanted more cricket, dammit) I can say definitively that cricket will become even more of a plot point. *g*

Title: Black Coffee on a Lonely Night
Pairing: Harry/Draco, past Draco/Astoria
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: non-magical AU, bisexuality
Word Count: ~21,600
Summary: Draco owns a café in the city. Harry's a MP who comes in every morning, newspapers in one hand, BlackBerry in the other, and orders a triple espresso macchiato.
Author's Notes: Written for the 2009 [info - livejournal.com] ownficfest. Much love to [info - livejournal.com] cursive and [info - livejournal.com] noeon for their support and their suggestions. Many thanks also to my flist for advice regarding cricket and to the highly informative UK Parliament website, and a huge thank you to [info - livejournal.com] tray_la_la for the opportunity to write this.

Addendum: When I started writing this fic, I commissioned [info - livejournal.com] glockgal for art to accompany it. She came up with the following gorgeous picture that proved to be the inspirational push I needed to finish the story. \0/

So don't tell me to mind the gap, I want my f***ing money back...

So this weekend is the last chance to vote for fics in the [info]snarry_games! If you haven't gotten around to reading and voting on some of the fics yet, now's your chance...and hey, I'm not above bribing or begging people to read my Sing A Mad Rebellion. :D (Seriously, though, I am pretty proud of this fic; I really think it's the best one I've written so far in my fanfic career.) Anyway, Snarry fen, go read and go vote--for Team Cauldron, of course. :)

Also, [info - livejournal.com] glockgal posted a piece of Harry/Draco art I commissioned from her (look, look, see my icon?) and it's gorgeous. *squees and hugs it tight* Mine all mine all mine!!! \0/ \0/ It's actually an illustration from a fic that I'm currently working on and it's providing a great deal of inspiration for me to get to that particular scene, which happens to involve Harry and Draco kissing on the Albert Embankment in the rain. \0/ I am absolutely delighted with what Glock did--especially with Draco's clothes. *bounces up and down* Go look and tell her she's absolutely brilliant. :D

Draco and Harry on the Albert Embankment by [info - livejournal.com] glockgal (ETA: Glock's art comm is flocked, but I've uploaded my copy here, if you want to see it...)

Oh and [info - livejournal.com] noeon just made me listen to this absolutely hysterical ditty about the London Underground and OMG THIS IS NOW MY COMMUTE SONG EVERY DAY because it is exactly how I feel most days about taking the T to work. :D Anyone who has to take public transportation daily will so relate, omg.

Okay, off to do some Dungeons with [info - livejournal.com] noeon and [info - livejournal.com] ze_dragon, and hopefully get some comment answering completed before bed.

FIC: Sing A Mad Rebellion (Snape/Harry, NC-17)

So my [info]snarry_games fic was posted last night. I'm going to admit that I'm really a lot more nervous than I usually am upon fic-posting and have been since I turned this fic in. It took me until this afternoon to figure out why: I approached writing this story as if it were a novel, and the result is the closest I've come to writing such a creature. Eep. /0\

Anyway, should you like to read 56,000 words (give or take a few) of somewhat dystopic Snape/Harry, here you go. :)

Title: Sing A Mad Rebellion
Genre: Alive and Kicking
Prompts: Secrets and Lies, Assassination
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17, Highlight if you wish to know: *Non-Snarry pairing (non-explicit), het mentions, bisexuality, minor character death, politics, semi-epilogue compliance, violence*
Word Count: 55,991
Author Notes/Disclaimers/Betas: A huge thank you to my betas [info - livejournal.com] noeon and [info - livejournal.com] goseaward, and much gratitude to Noe for coaxing this story into being. Massive thanks also to the mods for their patience.

This fic owes a great debt to such works as Orwell's 1984, Alan Moore's V for Vendetta, the film The Manchurian Candidate and the works of John LeCarre, all of which in some manner provided inspiration for the conception and writing of the story. Danny Foster (and his wife Kirsty) are taken from the BBC series Party Animals which revolves around the lives of young Labour and Conservative political researchers and lobbyists. Nemworth Interrogation Unit and various other MI5-related elements are taken from or influenced by the BBC series Spooks. In addition, I must give major props to the highly informative and incredibly helpful factsheets hosted on the website of the United Kingdom Parliament, which, when printed, fill two reams of paper and a four-inch binder. The title is a nod toward a fragment of verse by John Taylor.

Summary: The State Security Forces come not in the middle of a dark night as one might expect, but on a bright, sunshiny Sunday morning just after the sausages are set on the kitchen table.

FIC: Reefer Madness (Snape/Draco, NC-17)

I wrote this for [info - personal] bethbethbeth's birthday a few weeks ago and just realized I hadn't posted it anywhere outside of her birthday comm since.

So since there are a few people on my flist who might like a wee bit of Snaco porn, here you go. :) Do note the warnings and the title--there is definitely pot smoking involved. *g*

Off to watch an episode of Leverage and then maybe go to bed early....

Title: Reefer Madness

Word count: ~ 3,500
Warnings: Um...Draco (that warning would be for Cordelia *g*), semi-epilogue compliance (in other words, Snape aten't dead \0/), established relationship, slightly pervy portraits, the humiliation of teenagers, and unabashed pot smoking.

Okay, so I just posted my "drabble" for the Cats' Birthday Drabblethon. Let's just all accept the fact that when it comes to drabbling I FAIL LIKE A FAILING THING, okay? This puppy ended up being 1,664 words. We'll just say it's 16.5 drabbles. *nodnodnodnod*

Anyway. Should you care to read it.... (Also note that it's in three consecutive comments, so make sure you read all three or you might be confused at the end of the second one. *cough*)

FIC: Cigarettes Will Kill You, NC-17, Harry/Draco

I have committed pornage. I have committed pornage that is under 4,000 words. !!!! (No really! I wrote a short PWP! I'm just as stunned as you are.) I have also committed pornage that involves adultery. Don't look at me like that; I'm evidently in a Harry-as-cheating-bastard mood lately. \0/ I can't help myself. I don't even know.

Anyway. Should you feel the urge to indulge in a little adulterous porn, I'm your girl today. Clicketh below. :D And now I go back to writing Snarry for the rest of today.

Happy Fourth of July, America! As much as I might bitch about it sometimes, I do heart my highly dysfunctional but kinda smushy-and-sweet-when-it-wants-to-be country. A lot.

I have spent my day off propped up on the couch, organizing my de.licio.us tags so that they're actually, you know, usable instead of a bizarre tangled mass of things I meant to save for some unknown reason. And I've just finished submitting all my Snarry fic to Walking The Plank, which meant I also had to upload a bunch of stuff to Skyehawke since I had about 11 fics--both years old and from the past few months--that I just hadn't gotten around to archiving.

Let me tell you, there is absolutely nothing more humbling than reading fics you wrote several years ago. It is tres cringeworthy, oh my God. *winces* I can't believe some of the absolute dreck I wrote when I first came into fandom. Ah well. They're all up now and everything except my bandom fics have been archived off-LJ. I'm just waiting for the RPS-friendly OTW archive to have a place to slap those babies up.

And while I was uploading, I figured out some statistics regarding my fic posting which are of probably no interest to anyone but me. *G*

Breakdown of stories written per fandom and pairing over the course of the past five years )

And on that note, I have a fic to finish this weekend if at all possible.

Fic offer

Because evidently I have lost my mind...I've just offered an HP fic up on livelongnmarry on LJ. Should you be so inclined, you can see the details here.

I'm still working on my Sweet Charity fic, so do be aware that it's very likely whoever wins this fic will probably get it right before (or on) the Dec. 15 delivery date I've listed. I'm running a bit behind lately on fic-writing. :/

Snarry ficcage...

So, my Snarry Games fic was posted overnight.

I'll admit, I'm nervous about this story, more so than I usually am when a fic of mine goes up. You see, there are elements in this story that deal explicitly with religion and theology. It's a bit difficult not to include those sorts of things, after all, when you're writing a vampire tale that draws from the Bram Stoker side of vampiric folklore. (Bram did like his religious symbolism. *g*) I do realise that could be problematic for some people and because of that I don't want anyone going in unawares. Please be forewarned. The fic does contain some theological discussion of a decidedly Catholic bent.

Having said that, if you're in the mood for a bit of Snape/Harry vampire hunting... :)

Title: Exegesis
Team: Phoenix
Genre(s): Alternate Reality & Romance
Prompt(s): The Root of All Evil
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: NC-17 (warnings can be found on the Snarry Games comm if you are so inclined)
Word Count: ~49,150
Summary: Every culture has its tales regarding creatures of the night.
A/N: Many thanks and much love to [info]cursive and [info]ze_dragon for their beta work, and a huge, huge, huge debt of gratitude to [info]ze_dragon for Catholic-picking above and beyond the call of duty. Credit for various aspects of this fic must be given to Elizabeth Kostova's The Historian, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and Florescu & McNally's In Search of Dracula. Inspiration was also drawn from various film references including Nosferatu, Dracula (1931), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), and Van Helsing. Further elements were taken from Gypsy Law: Romani Legal Traditions and Culture, A Handbook of Vlax Romani, and the various writings of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine.
Disclaimer: If I owned them, Deathly Hallows would have been written so very differently.

( In later years, the one thing I will remember most clearly about the night it all began was the snow. )

And on that note....I'm off to get dressed for work. And wish that I was independently wealthy enough not to have to get dressed for work. Blech. :)

So.

I think I may have just plotted out a semi-epilogue compliant Snape/Harry version of The Parent Trap. *cough*

...

DO NOT JUDGE ME, YOU GUYS.

*whimpers and blames [info]ze_dragon*

So that would mean currently I am working on a Frank/Mikey tourfic, a Harry/Draco bandboy AR for [info]purelyironic, a Jon/Brendon surf AU for [info]luciamad and, evidently, a Snape/Harry Parent Trap AU. (And that doesn't include the other plot bunnies that are snuffling around, gnawing on my cerebrum. *thwaps them with a large stick, especially the HP/St Trinian's crossover that seems to be growing rather excessively*)

My brain is a frightening place to be right now.

Two HP fics: Eileen/Tobias and Harry/Draco

Popping in before collapsing into bed to post pointers to two fics I've written recently and give a rec to another someone brilliantly wrote for me. :)

The first fic I wrote was written for the hp_beholder fest on InsaneJournal. But before I mention it, I have to say that the fic written for me by [info]bluestocking79 is abso-bloody-lutely brilliant and should be read by everyone. I received it a day before I went out of town for a week, so I didn't get a chance to pimp it properly, but it's fabulous. It's Eileen Prince/Tobias Snape and it's a fantastic interpretation of the Snape family. (And there's a touch of Snape/Draco in there as well!) You can find it here: Wholly to Be a Fool. Go read. Seriously, you won't regret it. It's exquisite and I love Eileen and Tobias here.

I also had the privilege of writing Elieen Prince/Tobias Snape for [info]atdelphi. It's just a wee fic because I was in the middle of a flurry of deadlines, but I'm fond of it. :)

Title: Underneath The North Star And The Sycamores
Rating: NC-17
Word count: ~5,000
Pairings: Eileen Prince/Tobias Snape
Summary: I'm restless, eager for something I'm not quite certain of, something I never thought I'd want.
Notes: Many, many, many thanks to my betas ([info]amanuensis, [info]winterthunder and [info]ze_dragon) for their suggestions and comments, and much love to [info]bethbethbeth for [info]hp_beholder. And a huge debt of gratitude to [info]atdelphi for a chance to write Eileen and Tobias.

"Six NEWTs," Mother says in that shrill, nearly hysterical voice she's taken to using with me since I'd come home from Hogwarts a month past.

My second fic was for the [info]hd_worldcup. (And props to my team, Team Epilogue for winning the cup. See, epilogue-compliant fics can actually work. *g*)

When I first decided on my story for [info]hd_worldcup, I wrote to [info]ze_dragon and said, "If I'm going to write about divorce, I want it to be painfully real. I want it to hurt the way the breakup of a family would hurt. I want the custody battle to be bitter, I want the kids to be at a loss, and I want Harry to have fucked up big-time because I don't want to write Ginny as a bitch and Harry as a saint. And P.S. I want to make Draco a social worker just to see if I can."

So I gave it a shot, and I was pleased with what I came up with. Of course, not that I was very anonymous, evidently. *eyes the guesses at my fic with amusement* It seems I have a certain style that's easy to recognize. I'm going to have to do better at hiding myself next time. *g*

What surprised me most about the response to my fic though was spoilers )

Title: Take A Sad Song (And Make It Better)
Prompt: Judgment
Wordcount: 48,005 (according to skyehawke...hm)
Rating: NC-17
Summary: The last thing Harry wants is to lose his kids.
Notes: Many thanks to [info]cursive and [info]ze_dragon for their wonderful beta work.

The turntable needle dragged across the surface of the record with soft, muted thumps of diamond against vinyl for a moment before the quiet strum of the guitar echoed through the almost empty flat.

(Right now both of these links go to Skyehawke, but I'll also be adding the fics to The Archive At The End of The Universe. Um. As soon as it comes up for me. It appears to not be loading tonight....)

Sweet Charity

Sweet Charity

So for the first time ever I've signed up to auction myself for Sweet Charity. This round will benefit the Writers Guild Foundation, which is something I firmly believe in--the foundation provids funds to assist members of the movie/TV industry who are caught in unemployment due to the current WGA strike.

I'm offering to write a Harry Potter story of at least 10,000 words (although, hell, you guys know me, it'll probably be longer) in any of the following pairings: Snape/Harry, Harry/Draco, Snape/Draco or any combination of the three. You can see my offer along with the other HP offers here.</

Wow, I'm like massively behind on posting things and answering comments. Apologies. I've been prostrated sick pretty much since Sunday...yesterday I slept a total of 20 hours. \0/ And I'm still tired. /o\

But now I'm trying to catch up with fandom. Which means this weekend is going to be spent answering feedback on holiday fest fics. *feels guilty for being late with that*

I still have to post my [info]yuletide fic, but for now, here's my [info]smutty_claus fic, and I just have to say in regards to the fic I received which was the most perfect Snape/Tonks fic EVER, bar none and if you haven't read it yet, what the hell are you waiting for: HAH, [info]djinnj I KNEW IT WAS YOU NO ONE ELSE WOULD WRITE ME RUSSIAN CRIMINAL TATTOOS. The annual roundup of this year's events goes as such: new fandom!shiny!, personal difficulties, new nephew YAY, concerts YAY, Strikethrough ARGH, more personal difficulties, Snape dead! WAH, sulking with old fandom, Oh Canada!, Boldthrough, bad LJ no biscuit!, IJ MOVE, chair ComRel, more concerts, busy, work explodes, busier, Red Sox!LOVE, busy ZOMG, fangirl concert weekends of glee, personal difficulties, STILL busy dammit, DEADLINES WRITE WRITE WRITE, running Christmas exchange (am I crazy, answer yes *g*), personal difficulties, shifting [info]pornish_pixies, falling back in love with old fandom and old and new pairings.

All that to say that this year kind of sucked in some ways but had some really lovely bright spots. I sincerely and utterly hope that 2008 is a better, though. And includes more sleep, please. *looks hopeful*

I hardly ever make New Year's resolutions because I never keep them. But these I might. So I'm throwing them out into the universe, for what it's worth.

  1. I want to read and comment on at least two books a month.

  2. I want to watch and comment on at least two movies a month.

  3. I want to find one new musician each month I've never listened to and try out a CD.

  4. I want to finish a new screenplay and be halfway through the original novel I've been contemplating.

  5. I want to learn to cook. (Yeah, this one's been on the list for the past five years, so don't hold your breath....)

  6. Fic Wrapup

Okay, so I was thinking that I'd not really written much this year because I had a long stretch of several months post-DH when I didn't write anything at all and I've been struggling for time to write since August. And yet somehow this year I've managed to produce eighteen fics totalling over 175,000 words. *blinks* I wasn't expecting that. Huh. And that doesn't count the three fics I currently have in progress which probably add at least 30,000 words to that total....

Anyway, here's the list of published fic for the year, with the exception of the three fest fics which have yet to be revealed.
