I don't use sites run by other people to host my material. I have my own sites. When you rely on a service you are screwed if they decide to axe you and you have no way to replicate anything somewhere else. My sites are fairly regularly backed up, hidden from bots and able to be replicated anywhere pretty quickly.

To be perfectly honest, I've been waiting from the beginning (2001) for LJ to pull the plug on some of the more left of centre fan fiction. I still don't know what the attraction to outsider run services is, why LJ was chosen to be a fannish place when they have no understanding of fandom or what it does. I am still amazed there are people in fandom on LJ who think strikethrough was just about kiddie pron. How blind is everyone?

I'm not a part of OTW because I don't think visibility and 'acceptance' are what should be done. I don't require mainstream acceptance for anything and I already know what I do is valid. Visibility just gets TPTB nervous and worried about their money. And we all know what happens then.

What happens when the legal world finally rules, and rules against fic? I don't really want to be part of someone's desire to be famous by making new caselaw.
